The work is executed in the tondo format — a form that, since the Renaissance, has been associated with harmony and perfection. This circular shape, known from depictions of the Madonna and Child, here acquires a new meaning: it becomes a symbol of the cycle of life, the unity of nature, and the act of creation.

Wet Slopes is an allegory of the sexual act — the union of woman and man that gives rise to new life. There is no nudity here, yet the work is charged with erotic tension. Rain watering the meadow brings life to the valley — a metaphor of the female body and fertility. It is a story about the interpenetration of elements, and the intimate closeness between nature and the human being.
