The inspiration for this work comes from the animal kingdom, to which, from a scientific perspective, we also belong. There are many things we can still learn from these beings, often regarded as “lower” forms of life. The titular Crane Mother is a symbol of fidelity, wisdom, longevity, and vigilance. She is a caring guardian of her young, a wise companion. She accepts life as it is.

She allows her offspring to experience what is essential: truth, wisdom, cleansing (symbolised by rain), peace, freedom, achievement (mountains), strength and endurance (oak), as well as the connection between two worlds — the visible and the invisible (bridge). This often unfolds in ways that are uncomfortable for her, yet she trusts the course of events. She does not continuously project the future.
